Investor Presentation Review
Once some interest has been created amongst investors, they will typically enter into an intensive due diligence phase. Don’t confuse getting them excited with presenting due diligence data. Also, even though investors tend to invest in businesses they understand, don’t assume that they are familiar with your jargon and vocabulary. Keep it easily understandable. Explain your business simply, avoid marketing hype, and present the benefit to the investor clearly.
Be sure to address the following points:
- There is a clear market opportunity here a pressing need, real pain.Your technology / product / service addresses that market well. Mention customer ROI.
- The marketing and sales strategy will get the product to market effectively. You know the one about the mousetrap.
- The executive team can execute on the plan and has the necessary qualifications, experience and industry relationships.
- The use of funds will disproportionately increase the value of the company. Mention exit strategy and investor ROI.
This is a sample of the advice we give to make your presentation have the most impact with investors. It is best to prepare only a template of your presentation for our review as we always have numerous suggestions for improvement. You want to avoid having invested so much in the presentation that you are unwilling to unwind some of it.
It usually takes a few hours to generate your next version. The method is to run and re-run the presentation, restructuring and rephrasing for maximum impact. You usually then have many more hours of refining and polishing the presentation before returning for a final few dry runs with us.
