Executive Mentoring
This role provides close and confidential support to executives. The purpose is not to tell them what to do, or to criticize their decisions or actions, but to be a confidante, a sounding board, and to offer opinion if asked or appropriate.
The value of this function is that it allows the executive to bare his or her inner thoughts, hopes and fears, without compromising him or her self by revealing this thinking to peers or others within the organization (and keeping it out of the home, too).
The role is filled by an experienced executive who can relate deeply to the issues at hand. The mentor can ask meaningful questions and offer constructive suggestions, if appropriate, adding yet further value to the role.
